Arbitration is an alternative dispute resolution (ADR) process in which parties refer their dispute to an independent third person who can make a binding decision. The program is interactive and practical and designed to show participants the knowledge and skills required to conduct Family Law Arbitration with confidence and professionalism.
Over the course of the program, participants will:
- Become familiar with the AIFLAM styles and processes of arbitration
- Discover the essentials of arbitration—what it is and what it is not, the rules and statutory basis of Family Law Arbitration and how it fits into the family law dispute resolution system.
- Undertake role-plays as an arbitrator to experience the dynamics of arbitration
- Develop skills in conducting arbitration, including how to prepare for arbitration, award writing, and managing the arbitration process
The course will be held at the Brisbane Convention Centre from 8.30am – 4.30pm with webinars and pre-reading before the course. More information and registration are available at the AIFLAM website.
