Nominations are called for election to the Executive of the Family Law Section of the Law Council of Australia.
 
Nominations must reach the Family Law Section of the Law Council of Australia no later than 4.00pm AEST on Friday 2 November 2018.
 
The Section By-Laws provide that eleven members of the Executive shall be "elected in the manner hereinafter provided being:
 
(i) one barrister and one solicitor from each of the States of New South Wales, Queensland and Victoria;
(ii) one legal practitioner from each of the Australian Capital Territory, the Northern Territory and the States of South Australia, Tasmania and Western Australia.''

 
The By-Laws of the Section also provide that the members of the Section Executive shall be elected by ballot by the members of the Section. In the event than more than one nomination is received in any of the above categories, an election for the position (s) will be held. In the event of an election, each member will be notified by 7 November 2018 of the means by which he or she may participate in the ballot by electronic vote.
 
In accordance with the By-Laws, the term of office of members of the Section Executive shall be two years.
 
Members of the Family Law Section proposing to stand for election are requested to lodge their nomination using the required form.
 
The elected Executive members will be declared and take office at the conclusion of the Annual General Meeting of the Section on Monday 10 December 2018.
